NORTHAMPTONSHIRE MOVES INTO TIER 4
30th December 2020
Northamptonshire is moving into tier 4 as of tomorrow (31st December at 00:01).
Health Secretary Matt Handcock announced today in Parliament that most of the country will move into tier's 3 and 4.
Residents living in Northamptonshire are now only allowed to meet two people in public places. Households are also not allowed to mix apart from support bubbles.
Northamptonshire was the lowest tier before the second lockdown. After the second lockdown the county got moved up to tier 2. On Boxing Day the county moved into tier 3.
After a recent spike in cases across the UK and within the county many places have been moved up to the next tier. With the new variant of the virus spreading quickly, many more areas have tighter restrictions.
The new rules that residents need to follow are:
-
Hospitality is closed apart from drive-through, takeaway or delivery.
-
Non-essential retail must close and are only allowed open for click-and-collect and delivery.
-
Indoor leisure is having to close along with personal care.
-
Places of worship are open for private prayer and communal worship but you should not interact with people outside your household or support bubble.
-
You must not leave a tier 4 area or stay overnight away from your home. You should also not travel abroad if you love in a tier 4 area unless an exemption applies.
-
You are able to visit relatives in care homes with COVID-secure arrangements.
The Government advises that the next formal review regarding the tiering system will take place early next year.
